How did we get here??

We originally planned to have a big wedding celebration March of 2021 and had everything booked a couple years prior. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic hit and altered our plans. We moved the venue from the idyllic Ivy Hall with its river view and beautiful covered bridge to our backyard.

For the safety and to stay within community gathering guidelines at the time, we made the DIFFICULT decision to invite only immediate family members, our wedding party and our immediate neighbors. We took precautions and had a morning brunch, the ceremony, and reception all in our backyard. Most wore masks inside when we were getting ready but we largely left it up to the individual as to whether they wanted to wear a mask when outside and social distancing. It was a great time but we really missed having everyone to celebrate with us.

When we had to make the impossible decision to cut over 200 people from our list (ended up having 34 at the wedding), Mike promised Jess that we would have a huge delayed celebration at a later date. So now we are almost to that later date! Since most of our guests will be from out of town, we want to have a weekend event to be able to spend time and hang out with everyone. Saturday, we will have everyone over to our house for games, snacks, dinner etc. Sunday will be a more formal event at the Hilton with dinner, drinks, and dancing.

Since our wedding in 2021, we have had even more reason to celebrate as we welcomed our sweet son James Benedict March 2023. He is a kind, happy, and easy going kid who we love more and more each day.  Since James second birthday is just a couple weeks after the anniversary party, we plan to also have a cake and will sing Happy Birthday to him at the party Sunday.

No gifts necessary! We just want to be able to have fun, reminisce and enjoy celebrating with you like we wished we could have done in the first place. We can not change the past but we can move forward and have a wonderful time.
